We have an exciting history, one which dates back more than two hundred years!
1803. A small group of Christians occupied a vacant, log structure on the bank of Old State Road. It was in this year the Mud Creek Baptist Church was constituted.
1845-50. The original Mud Creek Meeting House was torn down and another log structure was erected
1900. In 1895, the old church was considered unsafe and was torn down. The congregation worshiped outside and joined with other congregations until the new house of worship was erected in 1900.
1948. The church bought four lots at the corner of Erkwood and Rutledge for a new pastorium. The pastorium was built in 1952 and seven adjoining lots were purchased. By the end of 1953, the pastorium was in use and all indebtedness had been paid off.
1955-64. In 1955, the land where we are presently located was purchased. Then in 1956, the congregation voted to build a new church. The new sanctuary and education building were dedicated on Homecoming Day, August 16, 1964.
1987. The church dedicated a new multipurpose building for recreation and fellowship. At the same time, all three levels of the education building were renovated with additional parking provided.
1989. Additional land was purchased for future parking.
1990. Two Sunday Morning Worship Services were started in October to accommodate growth until a larger worship area could be constructed.
1992-95. We constructed a 1500 seat sanctuary.
